Thank you for the great comment . I haven`t read the book yet - but intend to do so in the near feature ( only I guess I will get the audio book instead ) . Yet I am yet to see a film that is better than the book that is based on...not that they don`t exist , but are quite rare.

This was a good film except for one factor. In the book, William is described, at first, as a scrawny little runt - of about 10 but looking like 7 - who is almost afraid of his own shadow... and who is embarrassed about the fact that he cannot read or write, but eventually comes out of his shell to show his brilliance as an artist. The boy in the film does not convey that sense of frailty - he is almost too well-fed and his fears are almost glossed over. John Thaw, as usual, is brilliant.

You should read the book. it really gives an insight into the film and the real meaning of it and evacuation in the 1940s.

Hi Mick. Glad to see you again. No I haven`t watched Mercury Rising but from what I saw in IMDB it must be really good movie - will get it these days . Thanks for mentioning it.

And you cold find any movie - will just have to look for it for a while ( :
